WASTEWATER TREATMENT SYSTEM FOR RUBBER INDUSTRY
1. Characteristics and composition of rubber wastewater
- Rubber is in the form of anken, with a high molecular structure with a large number of double bonds. The base molecule is isoprene polymer, the main component is rubber and water, etc
- To process 1 ton of rubber products, about 18 m3 of wastewater must be discharged into the environment. Most of wastewater is generated from latex production (accounting for 70%). The pollution characteristics in rubber wastewater treatment are shown in the following table:

- Rubber wastewater usually has low pH, in the range of 4.2 to 5.2 due to the use of acids to coagulate rubber latex.
- Wastewater also contains a large amount of soluble protein, formic acid, N-NH3. COD content in wastewater can be up to 15,000 mg / l.
- The organic substances in wastewater are easily biodegradable.
2. Processing method
- Mechanical method: there are equipment and works such as: trash rack, filter net, sedimentation tank, flotation, etc
- Chemical and chemical methods: neutralization and flocculation.
- Biological methods: anaerobic biology.
3. Advantages
- Using a latex decanter to recover suspended rubber latex in wastewater and reuse this amount of latex, and at the same time reduce the amount of TSS in the rubber wastewater treatment process.
- Super shallow flotation tank DAF is used instead of other projects to bring treatment efficiency and save area and investment cost.
- Using oxidation and biological sedimentation ditch instead of other aerobic biological works because in addition to BOD, COD treatment, we also have to treat nitrogen and phosphorus in rubber wastewater treatment. This project also meets the above criteria.
- The wastewater after the sedimentation tank will enter the intermediate tank to create good conditions for the pressure filter tank to remove the remaining very small impurities and remove microorganisms to discharge into the receiving source.
