- Liquid nitrogen is extremely cold and operates under conditions controlled by safety valves. Direct exposure can cause severe cold burns.
- Prolonged contact may make metals brittle, damaging their structural integrity.
- Store in a well-ventilated area to avoid suffocation risks, as nitrogen is colorless and odorless, making it undetectable before symptoms occur.
- Avoid contact with liquid nitrogen. Direct exposure to skin, eyes, or clothing can cause frostbite and severe cold burns.
- Always wear appropriate protective gear, including face shields and gloves, when handling liquid nitrogen.
- Only trained personnel should operate equipment containing liquid nitrogen.
- Do not tip, or roll the cylinder. Use a hand truck for safe transportation.
- Close all valves after each use, even if the cylinder is empty.
- Before reusing equipment, ensure no residual liquid remains in the piping system.
By following these guidelines, you can safely handle and use liquid nitrogen across various industries.
