2. Operating Principle
♦ Thermal Trigger (SMS-227):
- Activates when the temperature reaches 68°C
- Heat sensor glass bulbs release the HFC-227EA/ FK 5-1-12(NOVEC 1230) gas within 10 seconds
♦ Electric Trigger (SMSE-227):
- Activates upon receiving a fire alarm signal
- Electric valve releases the HFC-227EA gas within 10 seconds
3. Product Features
• The HFC-227EA (FM-200) gas fire suppression system features tanks filled with FM-200 extinguishing agent, compressed to a pressure of 42 bar at 21 degrees Celsius.
• Each tank includes a standard pressure gauge. For enhanced monitoring, an optional pressure gauge with a monitoring contact can be installed to track gas tank pressure within the system. The fire alarm system monitors this pressure, and alerts are issued if the pressure s below a certain level.
• System operation is as follows: When a control signal is sent from the fire alarm and control system, the solenoid valve releases gas from a 1L cylinder containing 0.65kg of CO2. The pressure from this cylinder opens the or valve, if present, and activates the FM-200 cylinders to discharge the fire suppression gas through the piping and nozzles. If the system uses a single FM-200 gas tank, a solenoid valve can activate the tank directly without the need for a trigger tank.
4. Inspection and Maintenance
Annual Inspection:
The entire system must be inspected and tested for operation at least once a year, or more often if required by the competent authority, by personnel trained by the manufacturer.
♦ Containers: Containers should undergo periodic inspections as mandated by relevant national standards.
♦ Pipes: All system pipes must be inspected annually for damage. If visual inspection reveals any defects, the pipes must be replaced.
♦ Protected Areas: Rooms equipped with gas fire suppression systems should be checked at least once every 12 months. This inspection evaluates whether there have been any structural changes that could impact the containment of fire extinguishing gas or affect firefighting effectiveness. If visual inspection is insufficient for evaluation, regulatory guidelines require checking the rooms integrity.
