Reciprocating Air Compressor Oil

High performance, petroleum-based compressor oil specifically designed for severe operating conditions. An advance additive technology delivers extremely stable oxidation resistance with reduced deposit formation on pistons and valves, excellent corrosion protection, foam inhibition, and superior extreme pressure performance.

Excellent oxidation stability and low carbon-forming tendency of the highly refined base oil and special inhibitor system reduces the build-up of harmful deposits on critical areas such as discharge valves, maintaining compressor performance under the severest operating conditions. The highly effective film forming corrosion inhibitor plates out on metal surfaces to protect against rust caused by moisture entering the system, particularly during shutdown and intermittent operation.

High oxidation stability also resists oil breakdown at high discharge temperatures in compressor crankcase applications, permitting long oil drain intervals.

- Premium quality reciprocating air compressor lubricant

Shell Corena S4 P is a top-tier reciprocating air compressor lubricant. It is based on synthetic ester fluids and incorporates the latest additive technology to pro-vide the highest possible performance.

- Applications

All industrial reciprocating air compressors (Specially recommended for reciprocating compressors operating at continuous high pressure (30 bar and over) and high tem-perature (discharge at 180°C).

Shell Corena S4 P may be used in machines compressing air for breathing purposes (such as air bottles for divers).

Absence of deposit formation has a very important safety-related benefit. It is com-mon for pipework in an old installation to be virtually choked with carbon. This carbon deposit material is inflammable, and fires and explosions can occur under certain circumstances.

These conditions lead to rapid oil degradation and causes varnish and coke to be formed on components such as valves, inter-coolers and pipework. Such deposits on valves cause leakage, which quickly reduces compressor efficiency. On air outlet pipework, deposits can build up and may cause fires and explosions if allowed to remain.

Shell Corena S4 P may be used in machines compressing air for breathing purposes (such as air bottles for divers) provided strict conditions are adhered to.

- Seal Compatibility

Shell Corena S4 P, in common with other ester-based lubricants, is not compatible with all seal materials, and some older compressors may need to have the seals changed before they can be run on the new grades.

Shell Corena S4 P is unlikely to present anysignificant health or safety hazard when properly used in the recommended application, and good standards of industrial and personal hygiene are maintained.

The Mobil Rarus™ 400 Series is a line of premium performance ashless air compressor lubricants designed to meet the stringent requirements of the major compressor manufacturers. They are formulated with high quality mineral base-oils and a high performance additive system designed to provide exceptional equipment protection and reliability for compressors operating under mild to severe conditions. They provide excellent wear protection and the ability to reduce maintenance costs through minimising equipment problems and downstream deposits and carryover. Because of their high FZG Ratings, the Mobil Rarus 400 Series make outstanding lubricants for compressor systems employing gears and bearings making them an excellent ion for crankcases as well as cylinder lubricants.

The use of the Mobil Rarus 400 Series oils can result in cleaner compressors and lower deposits compared to conventional mineral oils, resulting in longer running periods between maintenance intervals. Their excellent oxidation and thermal stability safely allow extended life capability while controlling sludge and deposit formation. - Applications

The Mobil Rarus 400 Series oils are recommended for single and multistage air compressors. They are particularly effective for continuous high temperature operation. The maximum compressed air temperature, according to DIN 51506, is 220 °C. They are suitable for reciprocating and rotary type machines with the lower viscosity grades mainly used in rotary compressors. Rarus 400 Series oils are recommended for units with a history of excess oil degradation, poor valve performance or deposit formation. They are compatible with all metals used in compressor construction and with mineral-oil compatible elastomers used in seals, O-rings and gaskets.
