2. Understanding Your Skin and How to Care for It
 

- Our skin is our largest organ and is essential to our overall health and well-being. However, not all skin is created equal. Each of us has a unique skin type, and understanding our skin type can help us take better care of it. Here are the four most common skin types and tips on how to care for them:

☀ Normal Skin: Normal skin is well-balanced and doesnt have any significant issues. People with normal skin typically have few visible pores and an even complexion. To maintain normal skin, its important to keep it clean and moisturized. Use a gentle cleanser and a lightweight, non-greasy moisturizer daily.

☀ Dry Skin: Dry skin lacks moisture and can feel tight, flaky, and itchy. It may also have fine lines and wrinkles. To care for dry skin, use a gentle, moisturizing cleanser and a rich, hydrating moisturizer. Avoid using hot water, as it can strip the skin of its natural oils. Instead, use lukewarm water when washing your face.

☀ Oily Skin: Oily skin produces an excess amount of sebum, making it look shiny and greasy. It is prone to acne, blackheads, and whiteheads. ☀ Apply sunscreen 15 minutes before sun exposure: Apply sunscreen 15 to 30 minutes before you go outside, to allow time for it to be absorbed into your skin.

☀ Reapply sunscreen frequently: Reapply sunscreen every 2 hours, or immediately after swimming, sweating heavily, or towel drying.

☀ Use sunscreen every day: Use sunscreen every day, even on cloudy or overcast days, as UV rays can penetrate through clouds and cause skin damage.

☀ Dont rely solely on sunscreen: Sunscreen should be used in combination with other sun protection measures, such as wearing protective clothing, seeking shade, and avoiding the sun during peak hours (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.).
