Origin of Black Pepper
Despite having about 100,000 hectares of pepper-growing land, Vietnam is the world’s leading producer. Because Vietnam’s average yield is greater than the global average of 1.5 tons per hectare, production is projected at around 250,000 tons.
At 2016, Binh Phuoc contains 12,148 hectares, Dak Nong 11,154 hectares, Dak Lak 12,082 hectares, Ba Ria-Vung Tau 9,074, Dong Nai 9,010 hectares, and Gia Lai 11,245. The Central Highlands and Southeast region top in terms of area, production, and output. Other pepper-growing locations exist, including Phu Quoc (Kien Giang), Quang Tri, which has a long-established brand heritage.
