Ultra-high strength carbon fiber is engineered for applications requiring exceptional tensile performance, boasting a tensile strength of up to 6,400 MPa. It is ideally suited for critical aerospace components such as satellite structures and engine casings, where mechanical strength is paramount.

TANSOME®: Korea’s Premier High-Performance Carbon Fiber

TANSOME® is the first high-performance carbon fiber developed in South Korea. The name embodies its mission — to create added value by combining "tanning," the carbonization stage in carbon fiber production, with “something special.”

Weighing 75% less than steel but 10 times stronger, carbon fiber has emerged as a next-generation material capable of dramatically enhancing energy efficiency through weight reduction. With global demand growing at more than 10% annually, carbon fiber is increasingly viewed as a core material for lightweight design across many industries.

Composed of over 92% carbon, carbon fiber offers outstanding mechanical properties. Hyosung has led innovation in this field with the development of:

- TANSOME® Standard Modulus: 5.5 GPa tensile strength, >250 GPa modulus

- TANSOME® Intermediate Modulus: 5.5 GPa tensile strength, >290 GPa modulus

- TANSOME® Ultra-High Strength: Up to 6.4 GPa tensile strength

These product lines represent over 70% of global carbon fiber market demand and serve as key materials in aerospace, high-performance industrial sectors, and sports and leisure applications. To meet global demand, which is currently growing over 12% per year, Hyosung plans to expand its annual production capacity beyond the current 2,000 tons and aims to become a global leader in carbon fiber manufacturing by 2025.
