Tax declaration is mandatory when starting a business, whether as a self-employed individual or a company. This task is not difficult but requires accuracy and adherence to legal deadlines. So, what does a tax report include?

For businesses declaring tax quarterly: Those with a previous years revenue of VND 50 billion or less declare quarterly. Businesses with a previous years revenue exceeding VND 50 billion report tax monthly.

For newly established businesses declaring tax quarterly: After 12 full calendar months of operation, if revenue is VND 50 billion or less, tax is declared quarterly if revenue exceeds VND 50 billion, tax is reported monthly.

Monthly and quarterly tax return forms:

☞ Value added tax (VAT) return, form 01/GTGT: If tax payment is incurred, it must be submitted if no tax payment is incurred, submission is not mandatory.

☞ Personal income tax (PIT) deduction return, Form 05/KK-TNCN: Whether or not tax is incurred, the tax return must be submitted by the prescribed deadline.

Tax return submission deadlines:

☞ For monthly tax returns: The deadline is the 20th of the following month (e.g., the deadline for January is February 20th).

☞ For quarterly tax returns: The deadline is the last day of the first month of the following quarter.

Currently, although the tax authorities do not mandate the submission of input and output invoice summaries, they still request these summaries during tax inspections and audits.
