PURPLE RICE

Purple Rice, also known as forbidden rice or black glutinous rice, is a traditional heirloom grain with roots in Asia. Raw grains are deep black, but transform into a striking iridescent purple hue when cooked. This natural color comes from high levels of anthocyanins—potent antioxidants also found in blueberries and eggplants.

Praised for both its vibrant appearance and nutritional profile, purple rice is especially rich in iron, fiber, and antioxidants, often outperforming brown rice in health benefits.
